What is an Industry Group (IG)?
The Pipeline to Business Growth and Opportunities
Industry Groups were created by the Council to further develop relationships between MBEs, Corporate Members and Government Agencies. All companies are encouraged to assign a representative to be their voice within their Industry as well as with the Council. The Industry Groups promote business opportunities, create additional means of networking, showcases the capabilities of Minority Business Enterprises and indentifies the purchasing needs of Corporate Members and Government Agencies.

Through the Industry Group and the Online Portal your company will find allies within your industry that have common goals and needs. As with any member based organization, we encourage our Corporate Members and MBEs to be active participants. Your company will get as much as or even more than what you put into the Council. The IG leads to an opportunity to forge critical business relations for the growth of your company and industry.
How often do Industry Groups meet?
Industry Groups meet on a monthly basis. Industry Group meetings are open to all in order to generate new membership and awareness.
Who can Join an Industry Group?
A Member based Structure
Minority Business Enterprises, Corporate Members and Government Agencies may join an Industry Group. However, in order to join and participate in an IG, your company must be certified or a member of the SFMSDC. If you are not certified or need to renew your membership visit www.sfmsdc.org

How do I join an Industry Group?
Connect, Share & Build Stronger Relationships
To join an Industry Group you must be a member of the Council. If you are already a part of the Council, login to the Member Services Area with your username and password. If you do not remember your username and password email info@sfmsdc.org to request it. Once logged in you will see a link to visit the Industry Group Portal, select that link. You will then be taken to a login page. On that page select “Join Now”. Use your email address as your username and your SFMSDC password as your password. Complete the short online form and submit. You will then receive an email confirming your membership.
Each Industry Group will be involved in the following:
Business Development - expand business opportunities for MBEs with corporate members, government agencies and MBEs. Promote business opportunities, strategic alliances and capabilities of industry group members. Encourage networking and lead generation activities among the members.
Marketing & Advertising - Effective marketing and communications of the industry groups’ goals, accomplishments and programs internally and externally.
Governmental Relations and Advocacy – Assist MBEs in doing business in the public sector. Develops and promotes public policy positions at the local, state, and federal government levels that support the industry group. Proactive in helping MBEs respond to issues and developments, which impact industry group’s opportunities and growth.
Education - Promote educational activities and programs that develop and expand the industry group’s effectiveness and growth.
Membership Recruitment & Retention - expand corporate membership and MBE certification through effective recruitment, activation and retention of individuals in the respective industries

Membership in an Industry Group is available to Corporate Members and certified MBEs. If you are already a part of the Council, login to the Member Services Area to join your Industry Group. If you are not a member of the Council select the "Become a Member Today!" link above.
